The water temperature can reach up to 100°C, making it suitable for bathing. Tapovan, meaning “Forest of Penance”, has deep spiritual roots in Hindu mythology. It is believed that Lord Lakshman, the younger brother of Lord Rama, meditated here after the events of the Ramayana. According to local legends, the hot springs of Tapovan originated from the ground where he struck with an arrow to release underground geothermal water.
