Moila Top, also known as Moila Danda, is a serene alpine meadow nestled in the Jaunsar-Bawar region of the Dehradun district in Uttarakhand, India. Perched at an elevation of approximately 2,759 meters (9,052 feet), this hidden gem offers breathtaking panoramic views of the Garhwal Himalayas, making it a haven for nature enthusiasts, trekkers, and campers alike.
At the heart of Moila Top lies an ancient Shiva temple, locally known as the shrine of Pari Mata. Nearby are the mysterious Budher Caves, believed to have been built by the Pandavas during their exile, adding a layer of mythology and history to the trek.
Moila Top (also called Moila Danda) lies in the Jaunsar-Bawar region, which has a culturally distinct identity from the rest of Garhwal. The region has historical roots tracing back to the Pandavas from the Mahabharata era. The nearby Budher Caves, located just below the meadow, are believed by locals to have been excavated by the Pandavas during their exile.
