Nearest Railway Station: Rishikesh (approx. 222 km). From Rishikesh, hire a taxi or take a bus to Barkot, then proceed to Janki Chatti. Nearest Airport: Jolly Grant Airport, Dehradun (approx. 210 km). Taxis and buses are available from the airport to Barkot, followed by a jeep or taxi to Janki Chatti.

Janki Chatti holds a deep spiritual connection as the base for the Yamunotri Temple, one of the four sacred shrines of the Chota Char Dham Yatra. The temple itself is dedicated to Goddess Yamuna, and pilgrims have been using Janki Chatti as a rest and preparation point for centuries. The name "Janki" is associated with Goddess Sita, believed by some locals to have once resided in these serene mountains, adding a layer of divine feminine reverence to the area. The route from Hanuman Chatti to Janki Chatti and then to Yamunotri was part of an ancient pilgrimage trail, frequented by sages, saints, and seekers. Over time, small shelters, hot springs, and a devout community evolved here to assist the pilgrims.
